Kit Thursday – The Happy Stuff Saddle

April 28th, 2011

We work with a lot of charity riders and their bikes – sometimes new stuff, other times old refurbished beauties. One of the most common complaints is saddle comfort, and while a lot can be achieved with just a little positioning/fitting work, sometimes the only thing that can be done is to change the saddle.

The Respiro from Selle Royal (makers of Fizik saddles) comes in gender specific models, has a ventilated cut out and channel and provides firm support. Firm support is often the key to ride comfort as this saddle will not compress under a rider’s weight (as many others do) and it provides a platform for your sits bones, keeping soft tissue contact to a minimum.

This is our most popular saddle for charity riders and those looking for a wider base of support for their riding adventures.

Kit Thursday – eSoles

April 14th, 2011

I have been frustrated by the poor excuses for in soles that ship with many shoes, especially when paying upwards of $400 for a premium fitting shoe. With nothing better than a wet piece of paper between my foot and the sole, hot feet almost always occurred. The new Giro shoes that we carry come with a custom-pick-to-fit insole, but nothing like these eSoles.

4 different levels of arch support, 2 different metatarsal buttons and a base made for cleated sports, these were the answer to all my foot problems. For the month of April, these are $59.99 at the shop, regular $69.99 or higher at other places. Fits in all shoes and we have sizes from 38 up.

I’ll be putting my current set in the wash this week and I will report back with how they hold up.  More details here: http://www.esoles.com/products/efit_supportive.aspx
