Just about a year ago I signed the lease for the shop. The build took about a month, and not without a lot of help from my friends. Some helped paint the walls, some gave advice on how to lay it out and some picked up a hammer and helped build the fixtures.
The current location, which I lovingly refer to as “The Workshop“, quickly became a hub for people just as passionate about cycling as I am. There were some lonely, cold days (the draft from the service elevator and front door) but the growing core of cyclists who arrived and came back brightened up my days and reminded me that what I had was special and needed in an independent bike dealer. I am a lover of cycling and cyclists and I hope that shines through in all my dealings.
Today was the last day at The Workshop. Busy day with lots of people coming by for service, to pick up parts and to grab our 2010 jackets. A nice busy day to cap things off.
We will be keeping the best of the Workshop (the personal and technical feel), bringing some of our services to the top in the Country (fitting and training) and definitely keeping the paperwork more organized. See you at the new shop next week (a nickname for our new location will come to me soon). Follow the developments on Twitter (#newshop @hellovelo) or Facebook (“Paul Velo”). We will be up and running a week from Thursday on November 12.
